Marsett Bothy
Marsett Bothy is approximately 7 miles from Low Mill and about a 15 minute drive.

The bothy is much more a back-to-nature experience than that at Low Mill. It is an old barn in an old landscape - built before we were born and it will still be there when we are gone.marsett_barn

It has been sympathetically restored to retain its special place in this Dales' setting.

People visiting the bothy will look after themselves and be at harmony with the environment; they will need to set out their own rules for behaviour and to remember that they are temporary custodians of this unique facility.

Accommodation: The bothy has two floors with living areas downstairs and sleeping areas upstairs. It would be possible to sleep and cater for up to twenty people. Downstairs there is a kitchen and dining area and a toilet.  Upstairs there are two toilets with washbasins. The accommodation is very basic but the bothy has been developed in sympathy with its surroundings and is full of character and charm. You can see the virtual tour of the inside of Marsett Bothy in our virtual tours section.

Living at the Bothy: Sleeping arrangements are at the group's discretion. There are two separate sleeping areas with sleeping platforms. Groups need to bring their own sleeping bags.

There is an entrance area with living and dining areas downstairs. It is expected that the groups respect the interior of the bothy and remove outdoor footwear and clothing before entering the living space.

There is no refuse collection and groups must take their rubbish away with them. Similarly, there is no cleaning service and groups must leave the bothy the way they would wish to find it, clean, tidy and in harmony with its surroundings.  To prevent other little visitors we ask that uneaten/unused food is taken away with you.

Phone reception is minimal and, in case of an emergency, we suggest that you take a phone card which can be used in the telephone box at the Green in Marsett.
