Archery sessions are normally run on the football pitch beside Low Mill.
We have easy to use but powerful re-curve bows, and large movable targets for primary school age groups to make it easy to achieve success in archery. For participants that are a bit stronger, we use larger, even more powerful and accurate bows, so that the skill of the archer can be improved and perfected (although we can't guarantee you'll always be hitting the gold!!).
Archery is a very accessible activity and can be enjoyed equally be people with disabilities. We can use a modified bow that is mounted to a tripod with a trigger mechanism, so that anyone can use it easily.
Archery is a great activity for developing self confidence. Once a participant has faced and overcome something that is as physically and mentally challenging as archery, there will naturally be a sense of accomplishment that follows, and this can be used as a metaphor for everyday life.
Archery is also great fun! It's not every day that you get to use a real and powerful bow and arrow, but in our archery sessions you can do so safely.
